Are Multivitamins Good for You?

by Kim Risley on March 1, 2014

There have been a few studies that have come out about how multivitamins don’t work and even unsafe to take .  My view is yes they do work, but they are NOT a cure-all for the bad eating habits someone is doing or has done over the years. Vitamins are not going to cure someone’s lung cancer; just by taking one multivitamin a day a person is not going to reverse the decline from a lifetime of bad habits.

Multivitamins are a “supplement” to a good way of eating and lifestyle.  In the simplest way of putting it, vitamins are supplements to our life styles. I do believe that people are not getting the vitamins and minerals they need from their diets. Even if you are eating a healthy organic diet 100% of the time; which most people DO NOT.  Even as good as my husband and I are at eating organic we can’t do 100% even at home.

If you are taking multivitamins as “maintenance” then you need to be taking them daily. Along with staying away from sugar, processed foods and getting some type of exercise.

But if you are dealing with a health problem, then you should consider talking to an Orthomolecular Doctor who understands vitamins and nutrition. Most doctors have very little understanding of diet and vitamins. An Orthomolecular Doctor will be able to find a program that will help. This would most likely involve more than just taking one multivitamin a day. It would include  taking many vitamins and minerals, along with a change in diet to solve any health problem.

Also you have to have a good source for your supplements. You do not want synthetic vitamins.  You want the natural sources.  I don’t purchase our supplements from the major chain stores.  I have found a couple of companies that supply high quality supplements. Here is a good multivitamin I recommend, please click here.

Supplements are a great way to make sure you are getting a wide variety of  nutrients the body needs on a daily basis. I look at taking individually tailored vitamins as the basic weapon to reversing bad health. Multi-vitamins are like a net by catching up on all the rest of the vitamins that our main supplements may have missed.
